Identifying people with the vision is a first step; providing ways to work together toward this goal of a unified vision is another.

The Alethia Foundation is an agent  more than inventor or fabricator of our vision. Already, not only individuals but a growing number of associations and groups are at work on issues arising in this multilateral shifting of orientation, this paradigm shift.

They are spinning the warp and woof of a larger picture.

Many key ideas that are components of a Christian synthesis are thus already  circulating.  One of the things The Alethia Foundation does is to provide a context within which those who are already working on relevant issues may find further application: points of coordination within a new metaphysical model.

Alethia undertakes projects which explore and bring to visibility
a new Christian synthesis.

That means that specific projects are not confined to a narrow range of subject matter.   Most project designs straddle unusual combinations of subjects.

Alethia draws from the assets of any and all disciplines, from physics to the fine arts, from social and economic theory to logic and linguistics, from political analysis to medicine, from anthropology to astronomy, and from interfaith dialog and history of religions, for its theological portfolio.

The Alethia Foundation carries out programs which bring into communication developments from multiple fields,  looking at  them from the standpoint of  Christian inquiry, and working out their implications theologically.

Such developments become tools for repair or replacement of the presuppositions controlling the limits of the popular  imagination and of our worldviews.

The Alethia Foundation develops projects in three divisions:

RESEARCH

EDUCATION

SPIRITUALITY

Where do we fit in ?

Our mission has to do with restructuring culturally reinforced presuppositions. Our independence gives us the freedom to question conventional wisdom, the regnant ideologies, and their guilds. But our leadership & participants, rooted as they are in their respective fields external to The Alethia Foundation, keep it out of sectarian detachment, issue fixation, & out of "ivory tower" irrelevance.

In keeping with an early decision by the Board of Directors, The Alethia Foundation is not a "think tank." Its Directors and project personnel remain "in the field;" that is, they continue in their vocational roles, which in most cases are career positions (college faculty for example) subject to peer-review and institutional accountability of various kinds. Participants thus remain cognizant of issues as they are encountered in the "real world" of conflict resolution,  debate, campus ministry, minority advocacy, teaching, writing, pastoring, practicing law, running businesses, producing works of art, managing social service case loads, counseling, engineering, and so forth.

Alethia’s mission is best served when the people involved are doing what they do best, and making the contributions that they uniquely have to make. Alethia seeks not to impose, but rather to help disclose a nascent Christian synthesis, a process less of devising it, than of discovering and describing it; less of manufacture than of cultivation.
