This moment in history offers the human race a rare opportunity. The Alethia Foundation exists for the purpose of responding to that opportunity from the perspective of Christian faith. At the close of one millennium and the dawn of
another, we are living in an era of quantum leaps in human knowledge. Our systems of
thought & interpretation have de-stabilized & await new configuration, a new
gestalt. A metamorphosis in human
thought is taking place. An explosion of discoveries
in diverse fields has catalyzed a transformation in our systems of knowledge. Our
conceptions of the physical universe, human history and the social order, spiritual ideas,
even of the human mind itself have undergone seismic shifts. Humankind is presented
with one of those rare hours in history in which conditions are ready for comprehensive
redefinition. Established views are breaking up under the rush of new descriptions of space & time, of recognition of ecological & economic interdependency, of revised appreciation of human potential & the social & political conditions necessary to fulfill it. At the same time, we face grave questions under the pressure of reversing the self-destructive tide of human values. Our demise is foreseeable if we persist in the old ways of our relationships with each other and with the environment. Human survival may depend upon our ability to learn and change.
These developments, far from
undermining the Christian faith, offer new resources for affirming it. The sciences, so long regarded a threat to Christianity, find compatibility and complementarity with Christian ideas. From secular studies of human social problems come prescriptions deeply resonant with New Testament teachings. In fact, a Christian view of reality
offers a means of weaving into a whole picture many disparate discoveries of the present
age. New knowledge on many fronts, rather than dealing a final death blow to Christian
belief, has provided a tool of revival, the means of mapping a new Christian synthesis. As breakthroughs take place
simultaneously and multi-laterally, we have a liberating environment for rethinking
the universe in light of the faith. These breathtaking discoveries and their
implications deserve to be considered from an informed, critical theological perspective.
The Alethia Foundation is dedicated to an exploration and articulation of a new
state-of-the-art Summa Theologica, so to speak, a modern description of reality anchored
in the doctrine of the Trinity. The Alethia Foundation seeks to bear a biblical
witness, in an epoch which invites it in unique ways. The goal is the
development of a comprehensive Christian version of the current paradigm shift in human
perception. The purpose of The Alethia Foundation is to work toward the assembly of coherent worldview, a Christian vision, a Christian metaphysic for our time.
