 WHAT IS ITS PURPOSE?

The Alethia Foundation is a scholarly theological organization dedicated to the development of a Christian version of the paradigm shift now taking place in human culture. Our mission is to assemble a new Christian worldview for our time. We undertake projects that help show how ancient Christian teachings meeting modern knowledge, offers a comprehensive, coherent picture or description of reality. The Alethia Foundation explores a new order, a wholeness of understanding, out of which we can think, live and act.

Our projects express how Christian ideals of peace, justice, equity and actualization of human potential are part of a comprehensive vision that prospers in an environment of new information, especially from the sciences. Our projects fall into four divisions: Research, Education, Spirituality, and Fine Arts.

WHO RUNS IT?

The mission of The Alethia Foundation is sufficiently unique that we have chosen to remain an autonomous entity. Alethia is accountable to its own independent Board of Directors. The Alethia Foundation enjoys informal ties with institutions of higher education, and ecumenical connections with several Christian denominations and congregations. On its Board of Directors are distinguished pastors, scholars, civil rights leaders, and educators. The Alethia Foundation is advised by an exceptionally well-qualified group of professionals. It is audited annually by the accounting firm of McGladrey & Pullen, LLP, in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.

The Alethia Foundation is operated by an all-volunteer administrative staff of eight dedicated persons, a program staff of six, and is assisted by the regular efforts of many other volunteers. Our Administrative Facilitator is a Certified Nonprofit Manager and all of our staff members have training in nonprofit management and leadership.

 WHAT DOES THE NAME MEAN?

"Alethia" is a modified English transliteration of the Greek word, aletheia, meaning "truth." It is the word used in the New Testament Gospel of John 1: 14, in John 8: 32 "You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free," and in John 14: 6 "I am the way, the truth and the life."

The name does not imply that we think "truth" is something we possess and dispense, but instead is that for which we strive, in the welcome company of others whose points of view may differ.

Pursuit of truth is the core value of The Alethia Foundation.
